Dinosaur Party Fun & Games

Children always need activities to keep them occupied at a party – so here are a few ideas to keep your young palaeontologists amused at your Dinosaur Party....

Face Painting

Always a favourite with the kids, enlist the help of a friend or teenager to paint the faces with a dinosaur, footprint or other item associated with dinosaurs – to help get the atmosphere going.

Dino Word Search

This is surprisingly easy to put together pick the names of the birthday child’s favourite dinosaurs about 6-10 should do, then decide the size you want, using a very light pencil block into squares, write your dinosaur names in the squares, some forwards, some backwards, some up and some down using a pen. Next randomly add letters to all the empty squares again in pen and then erase the pencil squares and finally write the dinosaur names underneath the letters. Give out to each child on arrival and give a prize to each child who finds the all.  No time to create your own – download ours.

Dino Colouring Station

Give the kids something to do whilst waiting for all the guests to arrive. This can be as simple as pictures of dinosaurs to colour in. Download some of ours or outlines from the internet or take photocopies from the colouring books – there’s usually at least one picture in the cheap colouring books. Provide a pile of crayons and leave them to it until everyone arrives.

Dino Tattoos

Organize a party area where arriving guests receive a washable dinosaur tattoo on some part of their body.
Now that everyone has arrived, let’s get on with the party games, how many and how long to spend on activities will depend upon the age and attention span of the junior palaeontologists. So here are some ideas.....

Dinosaur Mazes

We have several Mazes for you to try, split up into 3 categories. Easy, Medium and Hard. Why not let the kids race and give a prize for the first to finish.

Dinosaur Quiz Games

Try a quiz to test the children's knowledge of dinosaurs. Great fun for a afternoon with your family and children.

Dino Stomp

Blow enough balloons for each guest to have one, using ribbon or string attach to an ankle.  The ideas being the young dino's have to bust each other’s balloons by stomping on them. The winner is the last young dino left with a balloon.

Dinosaur Join the Dots

Again print off one of ours and let the children race, they could even draw a background for the picture. Award a prize for the best or most original.

Dino Egg Relay

Depending on the age, this could be structured like an egg and spoon race with brightly dyed hard boiled eggs or you could have some dino eggs that need to be ferried from scattered points back to the nest. They just love this one!

Pass the Meteorite

We all know pass the parcel, so create a variation on a theme and use small dinosaur models instead of candy between each layer and make the final gift – either a bigger dinosaur model or small book like DK Pocket Encyclopedia or other dinosaur books. The choice of music could even be something like Everybody Walk the Dinosaur or one of the other Dinosaur songs around. For those really arty ones out there why not paint the wrapping paper with a meteorite look.

Sleeping Stegosaurus

For that point in the party when you need to calm your little dinosaur fanatics down try this variation of Sleeping Lions. Have your guests lie down, all except one who has to go round roaring pretending to be look for food, the first child to move is out as they have been eaten by the hungry T-Rex.
